Due to the nature of our business and as a responsible employer, we have a legal obligation to ensure all our employees are suitable to work in close proximity to children.
Therefore, all employees must provide us with a criminal record from their home country, as well as from every country they have lived in from the age of 18 (whether as a legal resident or not) for 4 months or more, before they start work with us.
Please note the following:
1. Criminal records must be no more than 6 months old at the time of starting work with us. This means that employees should carefully time their applications to the relevant authorities to request a criminal record, taking account of the time to process the request.
2. Permanent employees will be required to provide new criminal records when their records become 3 years old.
3. Returning seasonal employees will be required to provide new criminal records when their records become 3 years old, or whenever there is more than 6 months between the periods of their seasonal employment.
4. A criminal background check forms only part of our vetting process for applicants and employees. We still require two references and in addition will check previous employment history, etc., as deemed appropriate.
1. Please complete and submit the Declaration of residency form, below.
2. For each of the countries listed on this form, provide a recent criminal record.
Documents can be returned as a high-resolution, high-quality, scan by e-mail, or by post. Documents that are photographed and sent by e-mail are not accepted. Documents cannot be returned by fax.
1. For employees with UK nationality, or for any employee who has lived in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) from the age of 18 for 4 months or more, an International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC) must be provided. Please refer to:
https://www.acro.police.uk/icpc
2. For all other countries, please refer to:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/criminal-records-checks-for-overseas-applicants
3. The costs of obtaining criminal records are borne by the employee.
We will accept good copies or scans of the required documents, but we reserve the right to request the original document(s) and in certain cases that the original documents are notarised or Apostille authenticated.
You need to provide details of all places that you have lived from the age of 18 for more than 4 months and this should include places whilst studying at university, college, etc.
We welcome applications from diverse candidates and criminal records will be taken into account only when the conviction, caution, reprimand or final warning is relevant to the position applied for. Minor, irrelevant, misdemeanours are unlikely to affect your employment with us.
Whilst criminal records can be obtained from many countries, we understand that there may be certain circumstances where it’s just not possible for an employee to obtain a criminal record. For example, some countries do not provide criminal record checks and others require that that requests are made in person, which may not be possible for an employee. In such circumstances, please contact us for a decision.
