Operations Assistant

Responsibilities of the operations assistant are varied. The operations assistant reports directly to the operations manager and this rewarding role ensures the efficient operation of all aspects of the hotel. The role combines administration (planning, staff rota, finance, inventories, etc.) with hands-on oversight of the operation of the hotel (food preparation, food service, housekeeping, etc.).

The operations assistant works closely with our programme managers. With considerable client and staff contact, the operations assistant is expected to maintain a very high standard of appearance and must be professional, patient and flexible at all times.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English.
  • Fluency in French or German an advantage.
  • Valid and clean driving licence, suitable for vehicles with 8 passenger seats.
  • Leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Experience of hospitality work (cleaning, food preparation, food service, waiter/waitress, bartender, etc.) an advantage.
  • Experience of training and supervising staff an advantage.
  • Experience in administration and finance an advantage.
  • Organised, adaptable, trustworthy, patient and presentable.

In the winter, a ski pass (“Magic Pass”) can be provided at a reduced cost (449 Swiss francs) to support staff, if requested. The cost is deducted from the first month’s net salary, but is refunded at the end of the employment period, if the employment is completed satisfactorily and in full.

 

Net weekly salary is offered only as a guideline to indicate the approximate net salary after tax (for an unmarried person with no dependent children) and other deductions have been made and is subject to change. All salaries are paid at the end of each calendar month in Swiss francs (CHF).

Duties and responsibilities

  • Human resources – Staff rotas, work reports, staff appraisals, staff meetings and communications, staff uniforms, etc.
  • Housekeeping – Training and oversight of staff, daily scheduling, cleaning supplies inventory and ordering, etc.
  • Food preparation – Training and oversight of staff, communications with the chef, food supplies inventory and ordering, special diets, etc.
  • Food service – Coordinate and oversee.
    Office and reception – Manage.
  • Programme – Liaise with clients, introduce the chalet/hotel to teachers and students, oversee evacuation drill, order ski lift passes, liaise with suppliers, make bookings with third parties, responsibility for client photo galleries, etc.
  • Facilities – Plan and manage bedroom occupancy, declare overnight stays with local authorities, oversee maintenance, oversee security, produce reports, etc.
  • Vehicles – Oversee use and maintenance of, schedule drivers, etc.
  • Finance – Oversee and reconcile chalet/hotel petty cash, reconcile bar takings, collect money from clients, produce financial reports, etc.
  • Be a role model to the Viamonde staff and children, acting responsibly and in a caring manner at all times.
  • Show understanding of and appreciation for diverse cultural backgrounds within the children, school chaperones and Viamonde staff.
